Representing states across the country, 9/11 survivors from World Trade Center 3 to speak at National September 11 Memorial & Museum
As the 25th anniversary approaches, survivors from across the country gather for a first-of-its-kind panel discussion.
WHAT: In recognition of the upcoming 25th anniversary of September 11, survivors from the Marriott World Trade Center (World Trade Center 3) will gather for a historic panel discussion on Saturday, August 1, at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum Auditorium in New York City.
This historic event marks the first time survivors hailing from Michigan, Massachusetts, Florida, Pennsylvania, and New York will stand together on a single stage. The event will feature firsthand accounts, reflections on extraordinary escapes, a panel Q&A, and insights into the oral histories preserved in the book Hotel 9/11.
World Trade Center Three, a 22-story hotel tucked directly between the North and South Towers, played a critical yet often overlooked role during the attacks. Connected at the lobby to Buildings 1 and 2, the hotel served as a harrowing evacuation pathway for guests, workers, transit commuters, and first responders. While many tragically lost their lives when the adjacent towers collapsed, others survived through incredible bravery, perseverance, and fortune.
WHO: Attendees will hear firsthand accounts of survival, courage, and resilience from speakers including:
- Patrick Anderson (Michigan): Founder of the Michigan Remembers 9/11 Fund, reflecting on his escape and honoring the firefighters and first responders who sacrificed their lives.
- Joyce Ng (Boston, MA): Founder of the 9/11 Survivors Charity and publisher of Hotel 9/11, she shares her personal escape from the hotel and her mission to preserve the history of September 11
- Gregory Frederick (New York, NY): Recounting a dramatic narrative of survival inside 3 WTC amidst the catastrophic collapses surrounding the building.
- Elinda Kiss (Florida): Reflecting on hope, recovery, and the enduring bonds forged among those who survived inside the hotel that morning.
- Tarnisa (Pennsylvania): A former Marriott supervisor who survived both the 1993 garage bombing beneath the North Tower (then the Vista Hotel) and the September 11 attacks. She currently serves as an ordained Deacon at Greater Shiloh Church.
